EBBRO – Master Series F-1 – 1/20 Scale – Team Lotus type 49 (1967) Plastic Model Kit
Colin Chapman and Maurice Philippe designed the Type 49 for the 1967 season and Cosworth – a new engine design company, created DFV specially for Type 49 which went on to write a legendary part of F1 history.
Type 49 further improved on the monocoque construction with the engine now serving as a fully fledged stress member. In this new design, the monocoque ended right behind the cockpit with the engine directly bolted onto it to serve as a structural member. Type 49 and its DFV engine debuted at the Grand Prix of Holland. Graham Hill took the pole position and Jim Clark recorded the fastest lap on his way to victory, thus giving both type 49 and its DFV engine their first win.
