Acme Trading Company has partnered with Shelby American to salute the 50th Anniversary of the G.T. 350 and together are offering this diecast replica of Kemp’s #23 B-production racer. On the 50th Anniversary of the famed Shelby G.T. 350 Mustang, Acme Trading Company is about to release its latest Mustang diecast, that of Charlie Kemp’s SFM5R538 ’65 G.T. 350 R-model, considered the winningest Shelby Mustang ever. With 17 straight wins from 1968-1969 and 32 total victories, it ran at a clocked 184 mph at Daytona in 1968, the highest speed recorded for any 289ci small block powered Shelby, including the Cobra, at the famed speedway. At Daytona in 1969, Kemp and his #23 ’65 G.T.350 R-model performed the famous “pass in the grass” on Chevrolet’s ZL-1 Corvette! With the combination of Kemp’s driving, and the car’s flat out performance this combo was nearly unbeatable and responsible for 16 lap records back in its day, including the speed record at Riverside in 1968.
