The Porsche 911 (993) GT2 race car was developed to compete in international motorsports. This car was fitted with a rollcage, and had a stripped out interior to reduce weight. There were minor modifications to the bodywork and wings, to reduce weight and increase down force, and also to accommodate wide racing slicks. The Porsche 911 GT2 was powered by a modified engine fed by Twin KKK Turbo chargers with air restrictors, developing around 450hp. The suspension was also modified to improve on track handling.
The Porsche 911 GT2 competed in the BPR Global GT Series and several national series such as Daytona, as well as the 24hrs of Le Mans. Class Victories at Le Mans was achieved in 1996 and 1997.
