Le Renard is a faithful replica of the cutter or sloop launched in Saint Malo (France) in 1812 by the famous corsair Robert Surcouf. Its main task was to attack and capture enemy merchant ships from France. The victorious battle of Le Renard against the British schooner Alphea left its mark on history, turning the city of Saint Malo into a shelter for the families of the world's greatest corsairs. This contributed a great deal to the prestige and fortune of the city. In 1988, an association from Saint Malo rebuilt a replica of this elegant ship. Today, Le Renard still proudly plies the waters to the delight of thousands of visitors
